bedroom1 thought i would post some pics of this as i have talked about it a few times in comments. This was a bedroom makeover I did a few months back, never thought to take "before" pictures as it was something that I did spontaneously. This was back durring bedroom month at AT so I was feeling a bit inspired by that. It started out as tidying up the bookshelf, which was very over crowded. I sold a lot of the hardback ones and got around $150, so decided to use it to fix up the rest of the room as a surprise for my boyfriend who was out of town for 2 weeks. A lot of the money was spent on paint and even more on painting supplies. All the furniture was mismatched wood tones so I painted it all (bookcase, tv stand, the base of the chest, the 3 frames above the TV, and the base of the lamp) with shiny black enamel. It made an incredible difference to not have all the different wood tones. Also most of it was more traditional in style which isnt very us, so the shiny black enamel makes it seem a bit more contemporary. A lot of the stuff was from around the house we already had. The red candles/votives are something my boyfriend brought back from a trip to india and never really had a home, the red pillowcases and the brown fitted sheet for the box spring were old/spare bedding, the side tables are from a set of tv trays which we rarely used all 4, the other two are in the living room still. Bedroom Set My parents are in town and have graciously offered to get us new furniture (i.e., non-garage sale, non-ikea, non-apartment-cheap-o-crap) for our house! Jeff decided to stay home and watch football and leave the shopping to Mom, me, and my Dad. Good call Jeff! I know he would have gone bonkers, the couch shopping last week was already too much for him (i took way too long to decide on throw pillows apparently!). The furniture extravaganza was very successful. We purchased a dining table with 6 chairs, a coffee table, an end table, a bedroom dresser and chest, two bedroom end tables, and a tv stand all for $5000. Thanks Mom and Dad!
